| First topic message reminder :As many of you may know. KCTAU gave approval to start an interesting event, based on FIFA World Cup 2010. The idea is DJD's. Owner one of the best academies at the moment, Turbo Duel Academy, which will be the host of the tournament this summer. More details about the world cup can be found HEREDanceJonDance wrote : - Spoiler:

Hello Synchro Duel Academy,
My name is DJD and I am the proud owner of Turbo Duel Academy an academy which will be hosting the first quarterly KCTAU World Cup Tournament. If you guys are not aware of what KCTAU is all about then allow me to give you a brief explanation. KCTAU is a place for dueling teams and academies to gather, exchange ideas, host wars or tournaments and they keep an official track of an academy/team's progress in said events.
With that out of the way allow me to introduce you to the KCTAU World Cup Tournament.
::Concept:: The concept is simple. We are emulating the world cup with duels instead of soccer matches. If you know how the world cup tournament works then you'll know how this works if not then I will explain.
::Rules:: - Thirty-two players will qualify, and each player may choose to represent his/her country in addition to their academy. We're pretty sure that there are less than thirty-two countries in academies (I could be wrong) so a country may be represented more than once.
::First Stage:: - Four player will be randomly assigned to a group (total of eight groups) and each member of a group will have to face each other (total of three matches per member) - Getting a win will earn you three points, a draw will get both players 1 point, and a loss will earn no points. - At the end of all the matches the two players with most points out of each group will advance to stage two. In the event of a tie for points we will look at duels for and duels against (much like the GF and GA system) - But wait it's impossible to get a draw in yugioh right? Wrong. This tournament will be special because every matches won't be best two out of three. - Matches in this tournament will consist of four duels each, and the only way to win is to win 3 or 4 duels (3-1, 4-0) meaning that you can still get a 2-2 outcome which will result as a draw. - You cannot stop dueling once you get three wins like you'd do in a regular two out of three match. You must duel your opponents four times in order to complete the match.
::Second Stage:: - Second stage will be a traditional sixteen player knock off tournament. - In this stage we will revert to the traditional two out of three match system and the best duelist will win.
::Rewards:: Rewards may be picked by the academy owners based on a member's performance in the world cup so it will be up to the administrators of this forum to decide.
::Example of this tournament:: TDA has run this style of tournament before which is why we will be hosting the first official KCTAU one. Keep in mind this one is a TDA-only one and the rules are different in the sense that members did not need to qualify.
::Qualifying to represent your country/academy in TDA:: As of right now the only official academies participating in this event are TDA, YKJ, and SDA(This is subject to change, but I will probably only allow one more academy to join). TDA will obviously be having the home field advantage as members who qualify to the world cup must register in TDA and take care of their duels there. In order to qualify you must sign up for a tournament SDA staff will be holding. We will aim for a 32 man tournament, but 16 people will also be fine since we know this academy is young and barely growing its wings. Depending on how many other academies jump on board this first tournament it will determine how many players will get to represent their corresponding academies.
- The tournament will be a traditional knock off tournament with the following rules: - Decks will avide by the 2010 March advanced format. - The only way to win will be to win a best two out of three match with your opponent's confimation of a loss in an official tournament post. - If there should be any problems with the duels Screen Shots are a MUST - The loser of a duel gets to pick whether or not he or she goes first in the next duel.
Here are a few scenaries of how many people and who will qualify based on the results of the tournaments.
Academies: TDA, SDA, YKJ If all three academies run a 32 man tournament each academy will send 10 reps, and the two academies who finish their tournaments first with the least amount of DQs will be allowed to send a person from the top sixteen of their choice.
Academies: TDA, SDA, YKJ, and an unknown academy If all three academies run a 32 man tournament each academy will send 8 reps.
Academies: TDA, SDA, YKJ If TDA, and YKJ run 32 man tournaments, but SDA runs a 16 man tournament TDA and YKJ will get to send 12 reps while SDA will only get to send 8. The four extra reps from TDA and YJK will be four of the eight people who were elimitnated in the round of sixteen meaning that these eight players will all duel each other and the winners will go on to represent TDA and YKJ
These are of course the likely scnearios, but if TDA or YKJ were to run 16 men tournaments and the other academies 32 then what applied to SDA in the example above will apply to the other academies.
::Who can particiate:: Only active members to the academy may particiapte meaning that other academy leaders or staff members who call another academy their home cannot participate in this academy's qualifier. A post requirement of 50 will be required to join the qualifier tournament.
::Questions:: Many of you will have questions and this thread is the place to ask. I will answer questions to the best of my ability here and I believe i have the support of administrators to advertise this since SDA's Vem123 said SDA would participate. If there are no further questions then I'd like to ask for the SDA Staff to begin sign ups for the qualifiers as soon as possible.
This is what DJD posted, and please read the rules carefully before signing-up.If you have questions ask HEREFor now you may sign-up even if you haven't got 50 posts < SDA QUALIFIERS > Contest : This tournament will start with 16 members and will be seperated into two phases. The Group Phase and the Knock-Out Phase. There will be 4 groups in total, and each one will have 4 members.Every member must duel the other 3 in the group stage. The top 2 will be an SDA Qualifier. After that we will procceed to a normal knock-out stage with 8 members to continue this tournament. Important Rules : -2/3 Matches in all phases (If there is a draw in the qualifiers position we will look up at all the duels the 2 members had, and the one with the better record will advance. If there is a tie again, an extra match between these 2 members will be done.) - The only banned decks, are OTK Decks, Exodia, Burn and Stall Decks ( Decks that can generate are not included) - There will be strict deadlines and if you haven't done your duels in the time given, i will flip coins to decide the results. This may seem unfair but it is an important event and to succeed we need synergy and support from everyone that participates.Rewards List : SDA Qualifiers :For every SDA Qualifier : 200SC A ''SDA World Cup Qualifer'' userbar for your signature For winning all your group matches : 300SC 3rd place in the SDA Qualifiers :300SC2nd place in the SDA Qualifiers : 400SC 1st place in the SDA Qualifiers : 500SC AND Double reward for the first 5 chapters of the upcoming story mode AND 25% of SC for its duels in duel arena in one month time.
