| I was recently looking at the Ice Barrier cards, and came across this one: - Quote :
- When the activated effect of an Effect Monster your opponent controls resolves, your opponent can discard 1 card. If they do not, negate the Effect Monster's effect.
An activated card effect is one like "Exiled Force"? Is "Sangan"'s effect a triggered effect? DaD's and JD's destruction effects are activated effects? As for JD's last effect (milling) it is passive? I guess I lack in terminology :/

| I'll answer like this.
When you summon Brionac if you use priority, you have to discard cards and activer its effect. Then, it's your oppenent's turn to chain it. Later your oppenent's chain, Brionac effect's resolves. In that time, you have to discard a card.

| Berkay, what you said is wrong :)
Also, sinaki, raiho's effect is like none of the effects you mentioned.
Do you know the card Bountiful Artemis? It's a monster, and it's effect is "Draw 1 card from your Deck each time a Counter Trap Card is activated." Even though you actually draw when the counter trap card is resolved.
Raiho's effect is similar to Bountiful Artemis. It's a CONTINUOUS effect, and it does not start a chain, therefore Divine Wrath, Doomcaliber Knight etc cannot negate these type of effects.
I'll give you an example :
Your opponent activates Judgment Dragon's effect. Nothing happens yet, there was no response from you so the effects in the chain can start resolving. Judgment Dragon's effect RESOLVES, and the continuous effect of Raiho activates here. IT DOES NOT START A CHAIN AND CANNOT BE NEGATED. Your opponent must decide whether to discard a card or not. If he does, then JD's effect will resolve and destroy all the cards on the field. If he doesn't, then the effect will be NEGATED. It will still resolve, but it will just disappear as if a null effect was resolved.

| What you said is truly helpful :) I also wanted to add this: What can Raiho negate? Can he negate a Monarch for example? | |

| Raiho can negate ANY monster effect that resolves, therefore negating all monster effects other than continuous ones. Also, because it's a continuous effect, it cannot miss the timing, since it does not start a chain. If 3 monster effects are in a chain, when the chain resolves, Raiho will try to negate all of them one by one when they resolve, starting from chain link 3.
So, if you understood what I wrote, then yeah, he can negate a monarch. He can also negate Honest/Kalut/Battle Fader/Gorz/Tragoedia.
